OPEN DOORS.

These days, there’s so much preaching- claiming that your “yes” to God is gonna “open doors”. We expect that our obedience to God will catapult us into the stratosphere. There are dreams of increase, platforms, or even outward “fruit” for the world to see. We think, “My obedience will be a testament to the goodness of God.” That’s fine and all, but are you content with your heart being the only door that opens? We don’t talk enough about the times when you are obedient to God… and the “yes” you gave felt painful… and it feels like there’s nothing to show for it.
There’s no post to praise your obedience. There’s no banner, fluttering across the sky that reads, “THIS IS MY DAUGHTER WITH WHOM I’M WELL PLEASED.” The parade- celebrating your hard won “yes” simply… never appears. It can be difficult. While your obedience shouldn’t be motivated by outward praise, it’s painful to process in the dark.
We underestimate the power of hidden growth and development by God. You have to ask yourself some difficult questions. it enough to simply draw closer to Him? Develop a deeper intimacy? What if your “insignificant- yet excruciating yes” matures you- so much so that you can avoid shameful, devastating pitfalls later? What if you evolve into a person that simply… grieves Gods heart less? Is that enough?
